On Wednesday, Wikipedia editors removed the entry for Hunter Biden’s investment firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners, deciding it was “unremarkable” and that maintaining the page was “a magnet for theories of the conspiracy on Hunter Biden”.
Archived comments from his talk page reveal the reason for the removal.
“Not remarkable,” determined a Wiki editor identified as Alex. “This organization is only mentioned in connection with its famous founders, Hunter Biden and Christopher Heinz, whose notoriety it cannot inherit according to WP:NORG. Each source is a trivial mention in an article about the founders; it means that it fails WP:GNG as well. Keeping it around additionally risks WP:BLPVIO, as it is a magnet for conspiracy theories about Hunter Biden,” the Wiki editor wrote.
the New York Post in a Saturday post described the deleted Wiki page as “thin on details and badly in need of an overhaul”, but “provided insight into the founding of the company by Hunter Biden, Devon Archer and Chris Heinz” .
Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger said he believed the website was no longer trustworthy and had turned into “propaganda” for the left-wing “establishment”.
Many outspoken critics of Wikipedia’s management these days also argue that there is a double standard: “If a company linked to Trump has its Wikipedia page erased or that of the Russia investigation, that’s more than a safe bet to say that CNN would dedicate several reporters to following the Internet trail,” said Curtis Houck, editor of the Media Research Center.
