Game of thrones has a long list of memorable characters, and since we know just how George rr martin is to kill fan favorites, some lucky ones made it out at the end of the series. One of them was Jon Snow savage buddy Tormund Scourge of the Giants, played by Kristofer Hivju. It appears that Hivju’s new adventures in the wild have drastically altered his appearance in The witcher season 2.
Season 2 of The Witcher released in December of last year and is currently one of the most watched shows on Netflix. Netflix recently released a video showing how they transformed the Game of Thrones vet into a happy, friendly monster using prosthetics and CGI.
Nivellen is an important figure in The Witcher lore as he appears in that of Andrzej Sapkowski short story A grain of truth, He is the first “monster” Geralt of Riva meet who is not really a monster. Interestingly, the character is based on the Beast, you guessed it, The beauty and the Beast.
Hivju explains how Nivellen is made, “Nivellen is a mixture of wild boar, bear and human. He has magical abilities and he’s a kind, funny, and secretive type. He’s been in a situation that has cursed him, and that’s why he seems to be doing it. Getting into the physical side of Nivellen has been a long process. It really looks like a collaboration between so many people to make Nivellen. Because I had never played full prosthesis before. Barrie Gower and his amazing team of a full body cast, they made a costume on it so it fits like a hand in a glove.
