Who is Luis Diaz? ‘Indomitable dragon’ already loved by Liverpool star before transfer

Manchester United had reported interest, while Tottenham hoped to complete a move in the coming days, only to be eyed by title-chasing Liverpool.

The winger has become one of the hottest properties in world football after a stunning performance for his national side at the Copa America last summer.

Diaz finished top scorer with Lionel Messi, including a spectacular stoppage-time winner in the third-place play-off against Peru.

The 25-year-old is now set to compete with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota for one of the three starting spots in Liverpool’s attack.

And with the contracts of Mane, Salah and Firmino expiring in 2023, it is expected that Liverpool’s front line could evolve in the coming months, having already seen Jota effectively replace Firmino in the central role.

Diaz’s arrival is sure to give the Reds a huge boost as they chase an unprecedented four-fold, despite their chances of winning the Premier League title looking slim.

It will also galvanize a fan base, some of whom had grown frustrated with the lack of investment from Fenway Sports Group owners in recent windows.

That excitement was mirrored by a fan who quickly edited Diaz’s page to signal his impending arrival.

An enthusiastic Liverpool fan has already edited Diaz’s Wikipedia page for official confirmation

On the list of clubs he played for, one user has already predicted his next move, including ‘the Mighty Reds’ under Barranquilla, Junior and FC Porto.

The rogue fixture was quickly called off, but Reds fans probably won’t have to wait long for it to be officially confirmed, with hopes a deal could be done imminently.

Reports in Portugal had suggested Porto had received higher offers from other clubs, but Diaz’s insistence he would like to join Liverpool meant a deal could be done.

Porto are also set to waive the £67million release clause in the striker’s contract, after they were kicked out of the Champions League in the group stage with Liverpool beating them 5-1 and 2-0 to ensure they finish third.

Liar.co.uk website redirects to Boris Johnson Wikipedia page

The Liar.co.uk site has been taken over and directs visitors to Boris Johnson’s Wikipedia page.

The site began linking to the prime minister’s page over the weekend after facing fresh allegations from partygate of breaching covid restrictions and mounting pressure to quit.

Mark Rofe, 32, from Surrey, responsible for website redirection, said: “I originally wanted to register Liar.co.uk and set up a website with all the lies our Prime Minister has told, but the domain was already taken.

“But I saw the domain was available to rent for £299 per month on the Dan.com domain platform, so I shared the idea on Twitter.

and got a few people together to split the cost and redirected him to his Wikipedia page.”

Mark, who is the founder of Christmastrees.co.uk, added: ‘I wanted to do something that makes a serious point, but in a humorous way, hopefully it gets there. I would like to lease the estate until he leaves office, which hopefully won’t be for very long now”

Angharad Planells, head of business development and culture at Radioactive, who helped finance the rental of the domain, said: “I got involved with liar.co.uk because lying to the public is one of the ‘ don’t do’ fundamentals of public relations and strategic communications.

“Transparency and openness are key to building trust with any audience, whether you are an individual entrepreneur or a FTSE100 company, and most certainly in our country’s highest civil service.

“Without trust you cannot hope to lead, and Boris Johnson has shown time and time again that he should not be trusted. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. People see you, Mr. Prime Minister.

This is not the first time a domain name has been used to mock a politician, in November 2020 the domain name Loser.com directed visitors to Donald Trump’s wikipedia page after he refused to concede defeat in the 2020 US election.

Despite the endless backlash she received, she was defended by several people on this matter.
