Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has just gone live, bringing more classic arena shooter action to our screens. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to play split-screen multiplayer in Halo Infinite, so you can kick off the co-op action from the couch with your friends and family.

Is Halo Infinite Splitscreen?

First, to clarify this question, yes you can play splitscreen in Halo Infinite, but only in multiplayer. Co-op campaign split-screen multiplayer postponed to summer 2022.

Play split-screen multiplayer in Halo Infinite

To play split-screen multiplayer, first load up Halo Infinite by logging in and going to the multiplayer screen.

Next, turn on your second controller and press any button to bring up the Xbox sign-in screen.

Enter your login details, then the game will ask you if you want to take control of menu navigation.

After that, you should see that there’s a 2/28 next to your Fireteam in the bottom right corner of the screen, and a second player’s emblem will show up next to the “+” sign.

You are now ready to play split-screen multiplayer in Halo Infinite. When loading a game, you may find that the actual viewable viewing area is considerably smaller, as there are large black borders around the sides of the screen.

This may be something you need to deal with, and in our experience we haven’t found a way to change this.

How to stop playing split screen

When your friend is gone or you just want to start playing multiplayer again on your own, you need to press the Xbox button in the middle of the second controller and sign out of the Xbox profile linked to it.

Once you’ve done this, the second player playing splitscreen will immediately leave your Fireteam.
