This tutorial explains how to make small businesses more successful. We will do our best…
Elden Ring, like other FromSoftware titles in general, is known for its tough but fair encounters. Generally speaking, every encounter can be overcome, provided you adapt your approach to the situation. The tanks you’ll encounter guarding the Hero’s Grave locations scattered around the Midlands, however, are an exception to this rule. Let’s take a look at how to destroy tanks in Elden Ring.
All tank encounters in Elden Ring
There are three tank encounters in Elden Ring, each guarding a hero’s grave, which is a particularly difficult type of trap-filled dungeon you’ll encounter on your journey. None of these tanks can be destroyed by conventional means.
Of these three sets, you can actually only destroy two. We’ll take a look at each in turn and outline how best to get the most out of these multi-wheeled nightmares once and for all.
Tomb of the Fringefolk hero
The first tank you are likely to encounter guards the Fringefolk hero’s grave, located in Limgrave, and accessible very early in the game. Defeating this tank is intrinsically tied to acquiring the Erdtree Greatbow, so for a detailed, step-by-step explanation step of how to do both, check out this guide.
Tomb of the Hero of Auriza
It’s important to note that the easiest method to overcome this tomb will require dying, so make sure you don’t carry too many runes. Travel to the Grace Site of Hero Auriza’s Tomb (located in the easternmost part of the capital’s outskirts, outside of Lleyndell).
- Go down the ramp, avoid the Cart, drop off the ledge and .
Once there, go down the ramp to the right until you encounter the first of the tanks you are going to have to face, which will appear in front of you. Take cover in a side alcove and let him through, and drop the ledge behind where he spawned (where the ramp narrows and levels).
- Confront the basilisks
Run forward, dodging or dispatching the Basilisk as you see fit, and take the first pass on your right. Keep moving forward, but be careful, there will be several other basilisks blocking your way, and they can easily surprise and overwhelm the unwary.
- Head down the ramp avoiding more tanks and drop down from the ledge to the lowest level.
You will emerge on one side of another wide open ramp area. There are two tanks patrolling this area, one on either side of the ramp, and your objective is to fight your way down. It can be difficult to keep track of both tanks at once, but once you have the time, it’s not too difficult.
At the bottom of the ramp, you’ll see some pillars, a corpse with an item on it, and another tank that will spawn on the opposite ramp. You want to stand on top of the corpse and drop down the ledge to the wooden beam below, while dodging this new tank. Drop down to the bottom of this area, dropping three more beams in the process.
- Climb in front of the ladder, run on the ramp, take the passage on the right, hit the statue with the flamethrower, then let yourself die.
Face south and keep moving forward, fighting the skeleton guarding the entrance before climbing the ladder. You will end up next to another ramp. Another tank will spawn, but if you’re quick you can head up the ramp and take the passage to the right leading to a flamethrower statue before it spawns.
Hit the flamethrower statue to make the pillar go up into the ceiling. Now let yourself die while standing in its flames.
- Repeat the first step and once you reach the ramp where two tanks were patrolling, a third one will appear, destroying all three.
You’ll respawn at the start of Auriza’s Hero’s Tomb. As before, turn right and head back down the first ramp, avoiding the Chariot when it spawns. Go past the Basilisks as before, and reach the second ramp, the one that had two Chariots guarding it.
This time a third tank will appear and all three will be destroyed, leaving you free to explore the rest of the tomb. You will also receive the Tree Sentinel armor set for your troubles.
Tomb of the Hero of Gelmir
Finally, we have the carts in Gelmir Hero’s Grave which cannot be destroyed. This is because you are more destined to ride them. You’ll be able to board them with a well-timed jump once you get close enough.
