Finally, the highly anticipated adaptation of Heart stroke almost out! The new coming-of-age series is based on a webtoon and graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, following a gay teenager named Charlie Springs (Joe Locke). Fans of the love story are thrilled to see it come to life on Netflix, and we’re sure it’ll be in the Top 10 in no time after its release on Friday, April 22.
In the new show, we’ll meet Charlie’s adorable group of friends, including Tao (William Gao), Elle (Yasmin Finney), and Isaac (Tobie Donovan). And of course, we’ll also discover Charlie’s new love, Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), a popular school jock with whom he forms a close bond. Although Charlie thinks Nick is straight, he is confused by the mixed signals and eventually it becomes apparent that the two boys have feelings for each other.
Heart stroke follows Nick and Charlie’s blossoming romance and the ups and downs that come with it. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen it and get ready for an adorable binge!
There are eight episodes of Heart stroke and they are sure to make viewers obsessed with Charlie and Nick’s story. But what about the rest of season 1? Can fans expect more seasons of the sweet LGBTQ+ show?
Will there be a season 2 of Heartstopper?
At the moment, Heart stroke was not renewed for more seasons. However, we wouldn’t be too worried at this point. Since this is a new show and hasn’t been released yet, Netflix probably needs to gauge its viewership before deciding whether or not to order more episodes. We expect the series to be very popular, which means it seems quite likely that we will at least get a season 2.
How many Heartstopper books are there?
If you’re unfamiliar with the source material, there are five chapters in total in Oseman’s story. You can buy them in paperback format, and according to the Alice Oseman Universe Wiki, book #1 covers the first two chapters, book #2 covers the third chapter, book #3 covers the fourth chapter, and book # ° 4 covers the fifth chapter. The first season of Heart stroke covers the first three chapters, meaning there’s more of Oseman’s original work to cover future seasons.
If Netflix is Heart stroke continues to follow the comics, we predict there could be two seasons in total. However, if the show turns out to be a huge hit, we might consider even more. Oseman is the show’s creator, which means she has creative control and could continue to write Charlie and Nick’s story for the small screen.
We suppose Heart stroke will be back for at least a second season, but of course that’s just a prediction. Check back with us on Netflix Life for our full Season 1 coverage and for any updates on the show’s future!
