This category is a subcategory of Bible characters.

A disciple is an individual who willingly seeks to be taught and disiplined in a specific way of living or thought.

The Disciples of Christ were twelve in number:

1. Simon, called Peter

2. Andrew, brother of Peter

3. James the son of Zebedee, brother of John, called the Sons of Thunder

4. John the son of Zebedee, brother of James, called the Sons of Thunder

5. Philip

6. Bartholomew, sometimes identified as Nathanael

7. Thomas, sometimes called "Doubting Thomas"

8. Matthew, named Levi

9. James, son of Alphaeus, also know as "James the Lesser"

10. Simon the Zealot

11. Jude Thaddaeus, called in Mark's Gospel as Thaddaeus, Lebbaeus Thaddaeus by Matthew, and Judas by Luke.

12. Judas Iscariot

One may argue that Matthias may be considered a disciple after the death and resurrection of Christ. He was chosen to fill Judas Iscariot's place in the Twelve.

Some may argue that there were more than a simple twelve disciples, for Jesus sent out 70 or 72 disciples in the Gospel of Luke. If such an arguement is made, one could say that the selected Twelve by Christ were the Apostles, instead of simple disciples.
